It's beautiful! Small, and very high performance...Very high quality molding, lots of detail, good paint, good water transfer decals, clear canopy with cockpit deck(the pics on the nitroplanes website show an early prototype with a tinted canopy), easily removeable or replaceable landing gear, full flying stab, easy fan access for maintanance, lots of nice features. In the air, it's pure dynamite, everybody guesses it to be about 70mph, and that's very fast for such a small airplane! It's a whole level of performance above the rest of the RTF EDF jets... It's basically the smallest airframe that you can wrap around a 64mm fan. Hand launching is really easy, there is a grip molded in for doing it, and you don't need to heave it, it will fly away from just a light toss with no problems. Roll rate is tremendous, vertical performance is awesome, and downright speed, well...most EDFs, you fly around at full bore all the time, with this one, you want to save full throttle for verticals and high speed passes, and throttle back to half or two thirds to keep the thing manageable the rest of the time, it's mighty quick. It's very easy to land, I have been bellying mine in on the grass with no problems, though you might want to put a little glass cloth on the lower lip of the intakes, they tend to snag the grass and get chipped up. With the landing gear on, off pavement, it has no bad habits at all. The gear comes on and off with a few screws in a minute or two. It takes up no room in the car, it can fly out of small parks, or you can take it to the club field and mix it up with the big boys, it costs little, it requires no maintainance, it looks great, and it flies great. It's my new favorite airplane! You'll have a plane or two that are easy to set-up, look great and they won't break the bank. Not only that but this plane is brushless-ready already. Oh yeah, you can read the instructions. More widely known by its Navy designation, Type 0 Carrier Fighter, or Zero, the plane gained a legendary reputation. A combination of excellent maneuverability and very long range made it one of the best fighters of its era. The most effective Japanese fighter of World War II was known by many names. To the Imperial Japanese Navy, it was the Type 0 Carrier Fighter, Model 52. To the U.S. Navy pilots who fought it in the skies over the Pacific, it was the "Zeke." CMP Mitsubishi A6M5 52 Zero Fighter 120 - 71" Scale Nitro Gas Radio Remote Control Warbird Airplane $199 Japan's Mitsubishi A6M5 "Zero" dogfighter is a great scale airplane for anyone who likes scale flying. Designed in 1937, the Zero set new standards for air-to-air superiority and wreaked havoc first on Chinese and then on American opponents. In this slim history, Yoshimura (Build the Musashi, 1992) presents the Japanese view of how the Zero ruled the skies for much of World War II, these superb fighter planes became obsolete. Early sections of the narrative are heavy on the technology. There is much here that is poignant, though, such as the description of a skilled test pilot mysteriously slipping out of his parachute harness after safely ejecting from a prototype aircraft that exploded in midair. Yoshimura fascinates when recounting how the U.S. ignored early warnings about the Zero from American pilot Claire Chennault, who encountered the remarkable dogfighter while flying for China. He also manages to impart suspense to the oft-told tale of Japan's surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, which occurred three years to the day before an earthquake ravaged the Nagoya Aircraft Works, where the Zeros were built an event that, here, presages not only the end of the war but also the close of Yoshimura's knowledgeable history. In World War II, The Zero was superbly agile and was well armed making it a formidable fighter. It was little known to the allies prior to Pearl Harbour although once encountered it was soon well respected. Not particularly effective at high altitude it did however have a very good range that made allied commanders think Japan had more Zeros than they did. Most trainers have 60-inch wing. This one has 70.8-inch. Bigger wing and bigger wing area helps give a more stable flight. 1 degree wing dihedral gives a good balance flight stability and agility. All the hardware are included (servo wire, fuel tank, wheel/landing gear, etc). You only need to seperately purchase the nitro engine and radio system.
